Carotid Artery Disease

Occurs when the major arteries in your neck become narrowed or blocked. These are the arteries that supply the brain with blood, called carotid arteries.

Treatments: Carotid Endarterectomy is a procedure where a surgeon removes the plaque causing blockage of the artery. Also angioplasty and stenting are procedures to treat this disease

Symptoms include:

  • Loss of vision, unable to speak clearly
  • Weakness, or numbness on one side of your body
  • Unable to control movements of extremities
