Sclerotherapy is an established medical treatment dating back to the 1930s, specifically designed to address varicose and spider veins. This method involves the injection of a solution, often a saline type, directly into the affected veins. The injected solution causes these veins to collapse and irritate the vessel lining, leading to their gradual disappearance. The treated veins swell, bond together, and form blood clots.
